GSO - Black Professional and Graduate Organization of the Afro-Diaspora (BPGOAD)

The mission of the Black Professional and Graduate Organization of the Afro-Diaspora (BPGOAD) is to serve as a student-led, cultural organization that offers support, connection, empowerment, and psychological safety for Black graduate students and professionals across the UMass community. We represent and advocate for Black graduate students and professionals across campus, elevating their voices and providing space for them to be themselves. BPGOAD envisions a thriving community where Black, Afro-Diasporic graduate students and professionals at UMass Amherst, and anyone who supports Black, Afro-Diasporic graduate students, are empowered to excel academically, grow professionally, be supported culturally, find community, and live joyfully. Rooted in the celebration of Afro-diasporic cultures and traditions, we foster belonging, wellness, and solidarity while strengthening equity and opportunity in higher education.
